Insurance Fraud

I can’t seem to find any information on the specifics of the insurance game mechanics. What I would really love to know is if there is a system that prevents insurance fraud. If I were to let a friend board my ship, commandeer it and then I claim insurance on it (retrieving my ship back from said friend after replacement ship arrives) what would stop me, how in the hell could the developers possibly know that insurance fraud took place?

*I’ve never seen an insurance mechanic in any game for this very reason.

Well what if I just “steal” that ship back from my friend?? And wtf, you seriously can’t sell pirated ships?? What’s the point of being a pirate if you cant sell the ships you steal? There have to be some sort of “black markets” if this is the case; if so I can still resell my ship.

Link #2 says you have to prove insurance fraud took place (its hard to prove in real life let alone in this game).
