could this be Nvidia's answer to AMD Mantle I wonder. It could help with SC performance too hopefully.

Just by the virtue of being a nVidia user, I'm disappointed in RSI's choice to go AMD (although, I'm a dedicated AMD CPU user). When the release date approaches, I'll still probably wind up building an nVidia-based SLI system and just hope that the sheer horsepower and DirectX optimizations give me the best performance.

I'm fairly sure that Nvidia will not sit idle while AMD gets to put out something that a game as huge as SC will use. It will be bad for business, the fact that AMD and Nvidia are competitors/rivals in the industry will make Nvidia put out something similar to Mantle to help optimize PC performance or else be left in the dust by AMD.

Well, it's the fact that Star Citizen will be making use of special optimizations in their graphics rendering to take use of Mantle. I'm thinking that, when they enter into one of these agreements, that there's a clause saying that they can't utilize their competitors optimizations. So, I'm thinking that nVidia will have to rely on sheer horsepower to compete.

Well DFM soon guys, I am wondering how my poor little gtx 560 will cope, it's not too bad in the hanger on medium settings, I too have AMD cpu (fx6300), maybe this new gpu driver will help a bit, I don't want to upgrade until closer to full release, or beta earliest.

found the win7 64 bit version here, ready to download now it says.

If ya'll don't have it already, get the GeForce experience application. Outside of it keeping your drivers up to date, it also includes ShadowPlay, a feature that utilizes the h.264 encoder on your 600+ series video card to save HD quality video or stream it direct to Twitch.
