Debating toward a connie

I'm thinking of buying a Connie and exchanging it for LTI version, but i don't know if it's worth buying a ship wich you are relying a lot on the NPC to protect you. The price doesn't concern me to much, but it's really the viability of the ship itself with only 1 player flying it and have the bots protect your rear.

Any insight whether or not it's worth it?

Allot of our members have it. I got it because its pretty. But it also happens to be one of the most versatile/modifiable ships available. You can repurpose it for any situation. It's also extremely fast for something it's size. In a standard mmo I would compare this to a "tank". However it is obviously much more than that. In short with a Connie you should not need any other ship, the only role it can't fill is as a "race" ship. With 4 AI guys it will still be very formidable, you should have absolutely no problem flying this ship solo.

Another factor is that an LTI for the Connie is probably worth it.
It is not terribly fuel efficient. It will cost more to run, including NPC Hire. The RSI have endless debates on this on their forums too.

I went with a Freelancer and am heading towards a cutlass as escort. Between them I have a lot of options, including exploring / cargo.
Also I want something to aim for in the game, so that had a minor impact on my decision.
But seriously, this is something I am considering myself. I will make a decision if a Connie variant is released Oct. 10.

wait, the life time insurance will not be permanent on the ship? if I'm reading it right

edit: i went and read the wiki and it says "perpetuity insurance" isn't that for life?

That's actually something that I have been wondering but never brought up. It's labeled as "Life Time" Insurance but what happens when your character who owns that ship and insurance dies? Does the beneficiary automatically get transferred that Life Time Insurance?

The posts I have read make it very clear that the insurance stays with the ship perpetually and will remain insured even in the case of a new owner.

yeah, that's what i tough, the ship stay insured until the end of time, even if your char dies, its the ship who's insured. Only when its stolen will the insurance will "stop" on this ship and get on the reclaimed ship

We'll see how the Constellation performs, but it's looking pretty great in my hangar (though I really do hope they do another pass on the internal layout). Every time they hook up more of the animations, the ship come to life a bit more, and it's a lot of fun to see. I really can't wait to fly this ship!
