Nice post! I had not seen the extended video of the combat. I love the maneuvers that were shown off. You Hell's Angels have a lot of work ahead.

Ya I really did not expect ships to pull of 180's on a dime, very different from what I expected (but in a good way)!

I'm hoping I can use flight experience from Planetside in Star Citizen. I've gotten fairly proficient with the "Reverse manuver" where the pilot pulls a 180 degree turn and starts flying backwards for a short time before the thrusters realign with the rear, pushing them forward again. I imagine with maneuvering thrusters, a ship could fly in reverse indefinitely and keep shooting a target with it's nose gun, as long as the main engines are at 0 throttle.

I wonder inertia will work out if you time it right and you'll keep going the same direction but you reverse the position of your cockpit

If they made it 'realistic' then to get somewhere you would just need the fire your main engines for a short while until at speed and then you would fly nearly indefinitely as there is no resistance to speak of. However, as they have said that fuel will be an important issue then it seems less likely that it will be like this.

Don't forget, they are also doing G forces still. So while your inertia dampeners will compensate for most maneuvers, don't black out.
