The P-72 Archimedes is available for $30 with LTI right now, during the anniversary sale.
I think of it as a cheap platform for getting LTI stuff with CCUs.

I hear tell they plan to introduce an unmelt button. the sales going on this week could be a good chance to widen your options.

That is what they've said, yup.
That (unmelting) is worse than purchasing a ship anew with an upgrade from a Archimedes P-72, however, if you wish to potentially ever transfer a ship.
I picked up an LTI orion, thanks to the Archimedes.

I wish I had been paying attention back in November when this happens. I have one LTI freelancer and would have loved to even gotten another basic starter ship with LTI regardless of the potential for upgrade.
Does anyone think this might happen again?
